Polyester Primer and Trans Hump (July 15, 2008)

This update is of the car getting a coat of polyester primer. Most of this primer will be sanded off in the process of blocking out the panels. The polyester primer that I used is called Slick Sand by Evercoat. I upgraded my gun to a 2.0 tip to spray this stuff and still had trouble getting the hang of spraying it. Overall it had a few drips, but that is not a problem, since I will be sanding most of it off. I also have a few pictures from the process of installing the manual transmission shifter hump to the floor. This involved cutting a hole in the floor and welding the hump on.

Status photos as of 06/26/2008:

These shots are of the car taped up and ready for primer. To prepare for this stage, I removed the bumpers and spoiler, scuffed up all the epoxy primer, cleaned the car off and taped up all areas to not be painted.
The following photos show the car covered with the Slick Sand.
Here is where I marked the area in the floor to be cut for the transmission hump. Here is the hole that I cut into the floor.
I then attached the hump to the floor using sheet metal screws to hold it in place for welding. I then welded the hump to the floor using plug welds around the perimeter
I then coated everything top and bottom with ZeroRust
