Windshield Wiper Linkage and Door Window Tracks (November 4, 2008)

This page documents the installation and restoration of the Windshield Wiper Linkage and Door Window Tracks. I did the wiper linkage now because it would be easier to do with the engine not in the car. This linkage is for the optional "hide away" wiper system. I am not installing the wiper motor at this time. I will do that once the engine is in the engine bay. Also, on this page is the installation of the inner door hardware minus the regulators, windows, outer locks and power lock modules. I chose to do this now because I wanted to take advantage of the warm weather to paint the tracks.

Status photos as of 11/04/2008:

Here are pictures of the outside door handles installed. I installed them first because I was getting tired of using the inside door handle to open the doors.
The following pictures are of the window tracks before and after. They were covered in grease and cleaned up well. I coated them in black ZeroRust to keep them from rusting.
The following photos detail the installation of the driver side window tracks. The first photos are of the guide at the bottom center of the door. The window sits on this guide when rolled all the way down.
This is the front window track.
Here are pictures of the rear window track pieces.
These tabs install into the top of the front and rear tracks.
Here is the wiper linkage cleaned up and coated with Eastwood Underhood black. The following photos are of the linkage installed
Here are before pictures of the wiper motor adaptor plate. This adaptor plate is used when hide away wipers are used.
Here are the after picture of the wiper motor adaptor plate. I used a primer coat of Eastwood Rust Encapsulator followed by a coat of Eastwood Underhood black. Next to the adaptor plate is a foam rubber seal that seals the adaptor plate to the firewall. Here is the foam rubber seal applied to the adaptor plate. I used heavy duty double sided tape to install the seal.
Here are pictures of the firewall with the adaptor plate and linkage installed.
